Latitude: 30°42'27.00"S
Longitude: 115°29'24.79"E

30°42'27.00"S 115°29'24.79"

As promised, here's the other Google Earth triangle….

An aerial view.

Using the ruler tool we can see the longer side is .4 miles.

And here we can see how close the two triangles are to each other.

Exclusive Australian UFO Triangle On Google Earth Explained (Again!!)

AXcess News – (Making Old News New!!)

Armando Duke of, “AXcess News” recently (Jan 2008) posted an article online claiming an, “Australian UFO Photo Exclusive!!”

Exclusive Australian UFO Triangle On Google Earth Explained

The Australian Google Earth UFO that they exclusively reveal has been doing the rounds on the internet for nearly a couple of years (that I know of). It seems that the story draws a somewhat tenuous link between the recent Stephenville, Texas UFO sightings and the Google Earth triangle, saying:

“An alert reader in Australia captured these photos of UFOs less than two weeks after the host of unidentified flying objects were seen over Texas - taken from Google Earth showing the UFOs in a triangle pattern.”

And that: “We're bringing you some exclusive photos of UFOs in Australia that were snapped off of Google Earth on Thursday.”

It seems that this is one of those stories that surface every couple of months, if you visit the co-ordinates on Google Earth you will see that the Google Earth community have the image flagged with several comments and have done for some time. While the image itself certainly appears a little strange the amount of time that it's been visible is obviously a direct indication of the fact that the object is in fact stationary which means that unless it's a crashed or landed UFO then it's not a UFO at all.

Exclusive Australian UFO Triangle On Google Earth

Here's a video of the triangle and another couple of Google Earth anomalies (which I believe to be used for aligning the composite images) that was uploaded over a year ago.

(Original Post)

As recently as 18 th December 2007, LMH of Earthfiles.com received an email relating to the triangle UFO on Google Earth, the sender actually lived in Australia and said he interpolated its position on to a map then set off to investigate:

“(Triangle is) in an area I was fairly familiar with. The astronomy group I am in goes near there for star gazing as there is no light pollution. I made a trip up to investigate the Google earth mystery on Saturday, December 15, 2007. I 'interpolated' its position onto a map and we drove up.

It is a large antenna and appears to be a component of the huge wind farm immediately adjacent to it. The wind farm supplies 80 megawatts of power for Perth and is remote-controlled from Perth Power Company that operates the wind farm. I think the very high antenna transmits sensor and instrumentation data as well as receiving the control signals from the Perth control centre. It is a very tall antenna with 3 sets of guy wires in a triangle formation.

The growth and bushes are most likely cleared out of the antenna area. (We couldn't get close enough to see the base because the roads were blocked with gates and it is rolling hills). The place is fenced and the gates are locked. There are no warning signs, no 'use of deadly force' signs, nor is there any 'keep out' signs.”

The locked gates are there to keep the vandals and curiosity seekers out.”

Unfortunately due to the unique subscription system in place at Earthfiles it seems that once News is archived it then only becomes viewable after taking out a paid subscription, luckily Google caches the pages so the email is still viewable by using this option (click here). (You have to scroll down for the entry for the 18th December).

And here you can see in this image, the sides of the triangle are approximately .6 miles in length.

Exclusive Australian UFO Triangle On Google Earth (Perth)

The co-ordinates are as follows:

Latitude: 30°30'38.22"S
Longitude: 115°22'55.49"E

Or enter, “30°30'38.22"S 115°22'55.49"E” into Google Earth and you'll be whisked straight to the triangle!!

Area 51 (Dreamland) Renamed ?

The Air Force's classified test range at Groom Lake, Nevada, has never lacked for evocative nicknames — it and its restricted airspace have been called Dreamland, Paradise Ranch, The Box and, most famously, Area 51. Now there's a less romantic moniker to throw on the pile: “ Homey Airport ,” according to a few civilian aviation journals.

“Homey Airport” now appears as the official name for a certain air base near a certain dry lake bed in Nevada , according to reports in the Web site of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, as well as the Daily Aviator Blog and others. New editions of flight planning software and civilian aviators' GPS gear lists the name and the official designation “KXTA” — which online wags have speculated stands for “extraterrestrial airport.” (The “k” designation indicates only that the field is in the U.S. , according to the Federal Aviation Administration.)

Capt. Jessica Martin, a spokeswoman for Nellis Air Force Base, which sits 85 miles south of Homey Airport and is responsible for the airspace and any ground facilities, said that “we already know about the designation, but it doesn't have any effect on operations at the base.”

Martin said she didn't know the origin of the name “Homey Airport.”

Featured in movies, TV shows and video games, Area 51 is likely the most famous top-secret facility in the world and a favorite component of UFO and military conspiracy theories.

The Department of Defense didn't even acknowledge the base existed until 1994, when former base employees sued the government and claimed they'd been poisoned by hazardous materials used at the base for research into stealth technology.

Although the base and its work have long been highly classified, many of the aircraft tested there through the years are publicly familiar: the U2 and SR-71 Blackbird spy planes and the F-117 Nighthawk stealth fighter all flew first off the long runways and dry lakebeds at Groom Lake.

Some enthusiasts believe that work continues there today on advanced aircraft — including unmanned aerial vehicles, high-speed reconnaissance craft and even high-altitude blimps — though alien conspiracy buffs also speculate that Area 51's high profile has forced officials to move much of the top-secret stuff to the Army's Dugway Proving Ground in Utah .

UFOCasebook Video Exclusive - Stephenville , Texas UFO Footage Jan 2008

Compelling Video of UFO from Texas

This video was taken in the vicinity of San Antonio , Texas . I cannot verify that it is connected to the recent sighting wave near Stephenville , Texas , but I can assert that it is not hoaxed in any way, and is quite compelling.

The video shows what appears to be a fairly large oval shaped UFO hovering, or barely moving behind a group of trees. The video is displayed at regular speed, and there have been no enhancements to the video. I received the film in the .dat format, and compressed it for Internet streaming. The first :35 contains still frame grabs, and then the film begins and plays in its entirety.

Anyone who is genuinely interested in downloading the original 12 megabyte .dat file for study, can do so by request.

New UFO Mufon Sighting Report, Stephenville, Texas, UFO Sketch Included

This was a broad daylight sighting from our home on the outskirts of Hamilton , Texas . Hamilton is located in the centre of Hamilton County adjacent to Stephenville Texas . This object was travelling from South to North toward Stephenville/Chalk Mountain. We are approximately 40 miles South of Stephenville.

I was out in the middle of the yard with our dogs at approximately 9 AM on a clear, cloudless day with unlimited and unobstructed visibility. I was alerted to look up by our Labrador bird dog frantically barking at the sky. There were no wings, no contrail, and no noise associated with this event. It appeared to be very high and very huge.

It would have taken a silver dollar at arms length to cover the object from fore to aft. It was travelling S. to N. at what appeared, from my perspective, a slow rate of flight. I first observed it at about the 10:00 position off the Southern Horizon and observed it to approx. the 2:00 position. Total elapse time was approx. 45 seconds.

I took my eyes off just long enough to shush the barking dog and when I looked back up... It had just disappeared. Other than our dogs, I personally know of no other witnesses to this event. In fact, I would be very interested to know and compare notes/thoughts with any other observers.

This was definitely not a helicopter, airplane, blimp, balloon, bird, etc. Although Hamilton Airport has no Radar capabilities, Ft. Hood @ Killeen and Waco Regional Airport should have seen something.

Lots of luck on getting anything from the military.

I seek no notoriety, publicity, remuneration, ...no nothing. In fact, I demand privacy and confidentiality. I have a low tolerance and much disdain for rednecks & idiots who refuse to accept reality and admit the truth.

MUFON Investigators Report on Stephenville, Texas UFO Witnesses (Video)

Dallas (Fort Worth), Texas Mufon Investigator's Report

Terry Groff of, “The Dallas - Fort Worth Mutual UFO Network” wrote about the recent Mufon investigation:

It was sheer madness in Dublin , Texas on Saturday.

A team of MUFON investigators met with approximately 40 witnesses amid the circus that was the hottest thing to hit Dublin , Texas since they opened the oldest Dr. Pepper Bottling Plant in the world in 1891. (They still use the original formula)

Our team consists of:

  • Ken Cherry - Texas State Director
  • Robert Powell - Director of Research, Field Investigator (FI)
  • David Keel - State Section Director (SSD), FI
  • Mike DeGroff - SSD, FI
  • Steve Hudgeons - Assistant State Director (ASD), Sr. FI
  • James Shatley - ASD
  • Myself - FI
  • Gary Neitzel - FI
  • Paula Schermerhorn - FI

(Gary Neitzel was unable to go to Dublin but will be employed on subsequent interviews)

I rode down to Dublin with ASD James Shatley. We could tell we were approaching Stephenville with the myriad of business marquees saying things like "Aliens Welcome" and "ET prefers Purple Tacos", We saw no such signs in Dublin but I'm sure they were there.

We arrived shortly before noon and it seemed relatively quiet. The meeting was hosted by the local Rotary Club who graciously offered their hall for our use.

We walked in and there were only a handful of people there including our team. I thought to myself that perhaps this might be easier than we first thought. There was media there including NBC and FOX but there wasn't a crush of curiosity seekers... yet.

UFO Sketch Presented To Mufon Investigators
UFO Sketch Presented To Mufon Investigators

Just before 1:00 pm the madness began. Ultimately there would be around 500 people filling the hall designed for 200 people. We had the usual suspects that we quickly put in their place, particularly anyone who attempted to come in wearing tin foil hats. They were instantly told to remove them.

I was truly worried that the media would scare away many witnesses and I was right. Many did leave or never showed up because they were afraid of over-exposure. Yet, many did stay and we interviewed around 40 witnesses from all walks of life and age ranges. I personally interviewed a Grade School Teacher, an Anaesthesiologist, a College Instructor, a Rancher, an Escrow Closer, a Day Care Worker and a retired Agronomist.

After a brief introduction of our team we began the interview process. We secured a separate room but it was far from secluded. We didn't allow the media in the room with a couple of exceptions, but the room was still exposed through the open double doors and there were constant cameras poking through the door to get their shots. I did see my face on the evening news in Dallas.

I noticed that this event drew people out that otherwise would not have reported what they saw, mainly because they didn't know how or to whom. Oddly, none of the witnesses I interviewed were witness to the event(s) of January 8th - all were from December '07 - none of which correlated with the others. My witness' reports consisted of a Black Triangle, Neon Green Orbs, repeating orange explosions and one CE3 in the witness' bedroom. This witness also stated that they had been being abducted for years but it had been more than 10 years since the last.

This investigation is ongoing and our intention is to return to Dublin in about a month to do more interviews in which the media will not be invited nor allowed to attend. We plan to publish our results in the April issue of The MUFON UFO Journal.

Reason That Mufon Is Re-investigating 2007 “Drone flap”?

Recent Announcement of Mufon & UFO Hunters Collaboration Explains A Lot

James Carrion (Mufon Int. Director) visited a popular UFO forum recently to try and gleam a little information on what Mufon already classed as a, “Hoax”.

I must admit to being a little puzzled by the recent attendance at a popular UFO Forum by the International Director of Mufon. While I believe it was an unprecedented move in the right direction to try and unite the fragmented online UFO community I feared at the time that his motivations were a little less than sincere.

It quickly deteriorated into a crass show of, “Oneupmanship” and James left empty handed. This was purely as the UFO-Hunters show had requested information for an upcoming Mufon/Drone episode, information had already been provided for the television show in a very poor PowerPoint presentation by Mufon which quoted certain CGI expert/s without their prior knowledge and with information gleamed from private emails between Mufon and said expert/s.

(Mufon presentation in PDF format available here)

It has since been announced that according to the Jan 2008 edition of Mufon Journal (p2), Mufon is in the process of trade-marking the name "UFO Hunters" and are in the process of producing a website and logo.

One purpose of the website will be to,

“Inform the public about MUFON's mission and goals".

Thanks to Robert Moore for the information relating to this new announcement (UK-UFO.org).

Multiple Witnesses to UFO - Stephenville, Texas (January 08th 2008)

The first most of us heard of the recent Texas UFO reports was when Associated Press (see above post) ran a story called, “Dozens in Texas Town Report Seeing UFO” on Monday (14th Jan) even though it was referring to UFO sightings that occurred the previous week on (January 08th 2008).

It has been very interesting to watch how the story propagated throughout the internet and is quickly becoming one of the most publicised UFO events of recent times. The independent witnesses already number quite a few and more are still surfacing along with corroborating video footage and photographs.

Out of the 30+ witnesses who have been identified there's a few which have to be classified as extremely credible, that's not to say the other witnesses aren't as credible but rather that the publics perception tend to favour the former. These witnesses are Erath County Constable Lee Roy Gaitan, local business owner and pilot Steve Allen and an airport technician, I feel their credibility is a little more pronounced due to the fact that the Constable is for all intents & purposes a, “Trained observer” and the other two witnesses are experienced with aircraft which surely makes them less likely to misidentify a terrestrial aeroplane for an extraterrestrial craft. Also several civilians including business owners and reportedly a teacher all gave accounts which seem to concur on the basics of the sighting.

The general consensus of the witnesses was most definitely had seen a large silent object with bright lights flying low and fast, also noticeable and mentioned by some of the witnesses were alternate red and white flashing lights as well as the fact that the object was extremely large and moving extremely fast!!

Some reported seeing fighter jets chasing it.

Maj. Karl Lewis, a spokesman for the 301st Fighter Wing at the Joint Reserve Base Naval Air Station in Fort Worth , said no F-16s or other aircraft from his base were in the area the night of Jan. 8, when most people reported the sighting. Lewis said the object may have been an illusion caused by two commercial airplanes. Lights from the aircraft would seem unusually bright and may appear orange from the setting sun.

Officials at the region's two Air Force bases — Dyess in Abilene and Sheppard in Wichita Falls — also said none of their aircraft were in the area last week.

County Constable Gaitan said:

"I didn't see a flying saucer and I don't know what it was, but it wasn't an airplane, and I've never seen anything like it…..I think it must be some kind of military craft — at least I hope it was. I saw two red glows…..They glowed, and then they kind of faded and glowed again. And I looked again. I thought, 'That's just not right.' What was so astonishing was the speed that this thing took off…..I mean, it took off so fast…..It wasn't an airplane…..It wasn't a meteor, because it wouldn't have been bouncing around. It wasn't just one light…..I had never seen anything like that – never….. They danced around, appeared, reappeared…..I sat there watching three or four minutes, got my binoculars from the car …..I was having trouble keeping up with them. We counted nine or 10 of those strobe lights. They were spread out in the sky, about a half a mile, a quarter of a mile. And after a while, they formed a formation, not a single line; they were still flashing, but not bouncing around like they had been. And then it took off—it appeared they were attached, because they all left at the same time. Shot off in the northeast direction, at a very high-rate speed, I couldn't even keep up with the binoculars…..I'm thinking they were some kind of military manoeuvres, maybe some kind of experiment.”

By the time his 8-year-old son Ryan came outside, the red glow had turned bright white and Ryan adds that it looked faster than any jets he's seen.

Angela Joiner, a local newspaper reporter says that it's the talk of the town right now and several of the witnesses she sees every day, knows them personally and is absolutely sure that they all believe what they saw and that they are speaking the truth.

Steve Allen, Mike Odom and Lance Jones were out admiring a beautiful Texas sunset Tuesday evening when they saw something none of them can explain. Allen called it an unidentified flying object. And, because he's been a private pilot for more than 30 years, he has a little more experience judging air speeds and distances than most.

The phones haven't stopped ringing at Steve Allen's trucking company in nearby Glen Rose. He's the guy who was out Jan. 7 watching the sunset at a friend's house near Selden when they all saw some weird flashing lights.

He indicated that the craft was difficult to see, but based on the lights that appeared to be on the edges of the thing he estimated it to be about one mile long and a half-mile wide. The lights went from corner to corner. It was directly above Highway 67 travelling towards Stephenville at a high rate of speed - about 3,000 miles per hour is what I would estimate. No mention of how thin this thing was, but it's a large craft to be sure, and a fast one, something we certainly don't have in our military -- at least not that we're aware of anyhow.

Steve Allen, a 50-year-old pilot, was at a campfire with friends and says the object was a mile long and half a mile wide. “I don't know if it was a biblical experience or somebody from a different universe or whatever but it was definitely not from around these parts,” Allen said.

Allen drew a sketch of the object, which he said travelled at amazing speed without making a sound. While drawing, Allen told Von Fremd that he saw “an arch shape converted in a vertical shape, and then it split and made two of them, and then these turned into just fire and it was gone.”

While town officials search for a logical explanation such as an army aircraft, residents say the UFO was too big, too quiet, and flew too low to the ground to be a plane.

Stephenville, Texas - 1st Reports Of UFO Sightings (Jan 08 2008)

The first News article published on the current Texas UFO flap started with this article and then Peter Davenport of NUFORC published their two witness accounts (see post above).

STEPHENVILLE, Texas (AP) — In this farming community where nightfall usually brings clear, starry skies, residents are abuzz over reported sightings of what many believe is a UFO.

Several dozen people — including a pilot, county constable and business owners — insist they have seen a large silent object with bright lights flying low and fast. Some reported seeing fighter jets chasing it.

"People wonder what in the world it is because this is the Bible Belt, and everyone is afraid it's the end of times," said Steve Allen, a freight company owner and pilot who said the object he saw last week was a mile long and half a mile wide. "It was positively, absolutely nothing from these parts."

While federal officials insist there's a logical explanation, locals swear that it was larger, quieter, faster and lower to the ground than an airplane. They also said the object's lights changed configuration, unlike those of a plane. People in several towns who reported seeing it over several weeks have offered similar descriptions of the object.

Machinist Ricky Sorrells said friends made fun of him when he told them he saw a flat, metallic object hovering about 300 feet over a pasture behind his Dublin home. But he decided to come forward after reading similar accounts in the Stephenville Empire-Tribune.

"You hear about big bass or big buck in the area, but this is a different deal, " Sorrells said. "It feels good to hear that other people saw something, because that means I'm not crazy."

Sorrells said he has seen the object several times. He said he watched it through his rifle's telescopic lens and described it as very large and without seams, nuts or bolts.

"I'm 90 percent sure this was an airliner…..
With the sun's angle, it can play tricks on you."

Officials at the region's two Air Force bases — Dyess in Abilene and Sheppard in Wichita Falls — also said none of their aircraft were in the area last week. The Air Force no longer investigates UFOs.

About 200 UFO sightings are reported each month, mostly in California , Colorado and Texas , according to the Mutual UFO Network, which plans to go to the 17,000-resident town of Stephenville to investigate.

Fourteen percent of Americans polled last year by The Associated Press and Ipsos say they have seen a UFO.

Erath County Constable Lee Roy Gaitan said that he first saw red glowing lights and then white flashing lights moving fast, but that even with binoculars could not see the object to which the lights were attached. "I didn't see a flying saucer and I don't know what it was, but it wasn't an airplane, and I've never seen anything like it," Gaitan said. "I think it must be some kind of military craft — at least I hope it was."

Download New (Jan 11th, 2008) MUFON CARET Issac UFO Drone Investigation (PDF)

Download New (Jan 11th, 2008) MUFON CARET Issac Drone Investigation (PDF)

Download MUFON Investigation Of Drone Photos & CARET.
(PDF Document - Click Text)

A recent email sent out by James Carrion (MUFONs International Director) invited people to download their ongoing Drone investigation in Power Point format:
(Download the complete 2007 Drone Sightings History here.....)

"MUFON s Special Team Operations-VERITAS (STOV Team) has conducted a special investigation of the Drone Photos and CARET Documents. Although our investigation is ongoing, a preliminary report has been posted to the MUFON web site at: http://www.mufon.com/documents/Drones-CARET.ppt"

To say it was a disappointment is something of an understatement!! I only hope that there's a great deal more to divulge, I honestly have more recent, pertinent and relevant Drone related data on my desktop than what was contained in the Power Point presentation, as will every other forum member who classes themselves as a, "Dronie!!"

Kris –Saladfingers- Avery and Marc D'Antonio are both quoted and voice their opinions that the Drone images are undoubtedly CGI which while still relevant is news that is older than the majority of the sightings and images!! The document then goes on to detail the Kecksburg UFO crash in great detail drawing an incredibly tenuous link between it and the Drones which for the most part has to do with a, “Two decades” statement that Isaac wrote………

The most informative pages has following information on it:

“More Questions than Answers

  • Why would the U.S. Government seek commercial applications for a technology that has national security implications?
  • Why does Isaac express worry about his personal safety but then jokes about an IRS audit if found out?
  • Why are all the photo witnesses anonymous and hide behind Internet email addresses?
  • Why were no other corroborating reports filed with MUFON or NUFORC on the dates of the photo sightings?”

CARET similarities to MJ-12

  • Initial release of documentation triggers further release of information by whistleblowers
  • Gatekeepers –
  • MJ-12 –William Moore
  • CARET –Coast to Coast
  • Reference is made in MJ-12 EBD to other appendix documents by title. Similarly, CARET documents reference a PACL-D0006 ‘PACL Extraction Procedure Guide'
  • MJ-12 confirms Alien Roswell
  • CARET confirms Alien Kecksburg?

Down the Rabbit Hole Again

  • Who's behind these photos and documents?
  • A lot of time and effort was spent to produce the documents for no obvious monetary gain?
  • The Indisputable Truth as MUFON knows it
  • Roswell happened
  • Kecksburg happened
  • Active campaigns to disinform researchers and the public surround both of these landmark UFO events.
  • What secret is really being hidden? Extraterrestrial Life? Secret weapon?
  • The search for the real truth goes on…

Kris Avery has also said in a post at OMF that he's:

“Speaking to the producer of UFO Hunters, and the international director of Mufon about them using some or all of the drone music vid in one of the episodes. I said that it is fine if they would like to. I think that would be pretty cool.

The program will be about reverse engineering, and more specifically the Isaac docs and the drone case. Could be pretty cool. I'll be interested to see what slant they take on it.”

Ahhh, it's all becoming a little clearer now, I wonder if this new release of old information is anything other than a well-timed marketing ploy? After all, there's no point making a UFO programme if there's nobody interested now is there? Still, probably just my suspicious mind……..

You're a little late and have some catching up to do but,
Welcome to the party boys…….

Edit to add: James Carrion has recently posted at OMF stating that the:

“Powerpoint presentation we have posted on the Internet was created expressly for briefing the stars of the show on what MUFON knew about DRONES/CARET. That also explains why there are fewer details/notes in the presentation as we had to keep it concise to fit their shooting timeframe. Our follow up MUFON Journal article will contain the details of our investigation.”

Perhaps there's hope yet.....

YouTube Video Shows UFO sighting by Marines In Iraq (Jan, 2008)

On the 5th January, YouTube user, “Brintonsdad” (BD) uploaded a video clip of a squad of Marines on patrol in Iraq who capture on video something that at the present time are unable to explain.

The information that was posted to accompany the video was as follows:

“On the night of January 2nd 2008 a group of Marines on patrol in Iraq have a close encounter of the first kind with...?”

UFOs sighted by Marines in Iraq

BD is genuinely as intrigued by the footage as everyone else seems to be and says that personally he's leaning towards some sort of meteorological phenomenon although at the moment he has no idea what that may be!! BD has even contacted a meteorologist and the general consensus seems to be that they are a phenomenon know as, “Light Pillars”.

Multiple Light Pillars Created From Artificial Lighting

(Source: apod.nasa.gov)

BD says that the footage was posted to him over the internet by his Nephew who is a squad leader currently serving in Iraq and details are sketchy as he was (and still is) on active assignment. BD thinks that the footage is most likely captured in the Eastern part of the country.

A light pillar is a visual phenomenon created by the reflection of light from ice crystals, if the light is from the sun then it's commonly known as a sun/solar pillar. This phenomenon is similar to, “Sundogs” which reveal that the clouds are hosting horizontal plate crystals, the plates drift slowly downwards like a falling leaf with their large faces almost exactly horizontal, causing the visual effect. In light pillars those crystals with plate or column shapes provide an excellent surface from which the light may reflect toward the viewer's eyes. They can also occur at night but under these circumstances they require a bright source of light which can sometimes be provided by powerful terrestrial sources (such as street/security lamps) or more commonly by the moon.

The light pillar theory is certainly a possibility and one I feel shouldn't be ruled out, especially as January is noted as being one of the coldest months in Iraq with the temperature often dropping below freezing which would certainly facilitate the forming of the ice crystals in the clouds, allowing for the formation of light pillars, and of course the lights certainly are in the clouds.

A lot of the YouTube user comments mention spotlights, I feel that spotlights can be safely ruled out for many reasons, the main two being I'm sure the Marines would be aware of them if it were the case and of course why on earth would there be spotlights in Iraq at all?

Natural Light Pillar

The glow you can see at the bottom of the screen (in the original video) is a small town and is apparently unrelated to the light sources in the sky (unless of course it's the source of the light which is hitting the ice crystals in the sky and causing the effect) unfortunately due to the night vision it can't be determined if the light sources are the same colour as if they were then that would obviously lean towards the, "Light pillar" theory being correct.

EDIT TO ADD - Not long after posting this I received a comment by an Italian Blogger called, “RL”. (See comments at bottom of page). RL provided a link to quite an extensive website (CAELESTIA – Latin, "Affairs of the heavens”) documenting many unidentified aerial phenomena and attempts to explain them in more prosaic terms. While undoubtedly there will be some UFOs/UAPs that will still resist any kind of explanation I personally feel that we MUST consider all known earthly possibilities before any kind of opinion can be formed.

While I hasten to add that of course, “Light pillars” present a possible explanation rather than a definite one I'd like to thank RL for the link and I include it here as I found it very informative.

“The present study is a first attempt to bring together sightings from different parts of the world. In the process of unearthing this material, it was found that the ignorance surrounding the phenomenon persists to this day. Because of this, reports of light pillars have sparked unwarranted speculation, not only from ufologists and conspirationalists (who are inclined to attribute the sightings to extraterrestrial spaceships or secret military tests), but also among astronomers and meteorologists (who sometimes mistake them for auroral pillars, a specific type of aurora that shows as vertical streaks of light). A situation that is hard to understand, especially in the light of the findings published by the early amateur astronomers cited above.”

New "Silver Orbs" UFO Video From Rio Bravo, Mexico (Jan, 2008)

UFO Video - Rio Bravo, Mexico

Another presentation and brief analysis by Ana Luisa Cid, you may remember the recent, “Costa Rica UFO - Teletica Channel 7 - (Nov 20th, 2007)” which was a stunning (YouTube) UFO video with subsequent analysis.

I found the earlier UFO video to be a great deal more convincing than this one but having said that this one is still a great deal better than the vast majority of UFO footage that has recently been posted on the internet. When I say better I mean of course as a full package, i.e. the complete report as undoubtedly there's been quite a few CGI creations posted to YouTube but these are instantly recognisable for what they are and while the footage is visually better, the chances of it being a real aerial phenomena are often zero.....

However, and having said that, I still have a few reservations regarding this particular video as there (in my mind) is a distinct possibility it could merely be birds as I believe the movement and the brightness of the objects has led to similar misidentifications being made in the past.

The Journal of Hispanic Ufology (January 9, 2008)

UFO Video From Rio Bravo, Mexico

Video taken by Jose Alonso Galicia Fabela on Dec 4, 2007 at 16:32 hours.

"It was taken when Alonso left the camera recording on the tripod over his house before going downstairs for lunch. After reviewing the tape, he found what he describes as a "line of silver orbs". It should be noted that this is not the first time that he has left his camera running and unattended while he engages in other activities. He has previously sent Ana Luisa Cid video material that was gleaned in the same manner. To the extent visible in the video, the objects do not travel together, and for this reason we dismiss the possibility that they could be a cluster of balloons, although other possibilities have yet to be examined."

UK - UFOs in Tyneside now UFOs in Wearside!! (Jan 10th, 2008)

Typical isn't it, there's been no real reports of UFO activity in the North East for quite a while and now two separate local Newspapers decide to run a story about UFOs on the same day!!

The first one called, “North UFO Encounters" by the Journal and the title of the second article in the Gazette asks: “Why is Sunderland a UFO hotspot?”

I would have to ask: “What led to this opinion?” as truth be known the amount of UFOs reported in the Sunderland area could be described as minimal at best, and if you cast a critical eye over these reports the amount (that in my opinion) warrant further investigation are negligible to non-existent, especially over the last year with the most memorable one being dismissed as Venus within a couple of days.

Having said that I sort of understand where the writer (Mike Hallowell) is coming from and if I'm honest the article seems overly diluted but it would appear that this is a necessary evil in order to maintain the interest of the average reader. And it's certainly a nice change to see a local rag at least hinting at the origins and motivations of the UFO phenomenon rather than questioning the existence of it.

I commented several times towards the end of last year that the media in general is taking a less critical approach to UFO sightings and reports, whether this in itself is a conscious decision, a case of following the lead of others or perhaps a signifier of a more publicly tolerant media stance, who can tell?

Perhaps soon we will see a local newspaper entertaining the possibility that they are not extraterrestrial craft as we currently understand them. Perhaps that the phenomenon is a trans-dimensional one, or that UFOs are no more than a result of the collective, fractured human psyche, an involuntary projection of our primal fear or an externalization of these fears, one that is given structure, form and physicality by its respective beholders?

Hopefully these articles are an indicator if things to come, or it could just be a slow news week………….

UK - Why is Sunderland a UFO hotspot? – Shields Gazette (Jan 10 2008)

Why is Sunderland a UFO hotspot?

RECENTLY there has been a flurry of UFO sightings over the Sunderland area.

To some, this may be disturbing. After all, no one likes to entertain the idea that our skies are being filled with alien invaders from a distant solar system. Personally, however, I quite like the notion that we are entertaining visitors from beyond.

Overall there has been a decline in flying saucer activity in the UK, and if our friends from the other side of the galaxy suddenly got bored with us and stopped coming, then we may never find out who (or what) they are, and why they found planet earth so fascinating in the first place.

One of the big problems with the concept that we are being visited by alien life forms is the distance they would have to travel to reach us. The nearest star to us is more than four light years away, and this means that even if aliens could travel at the speed of light, it would still take them over four years to get here.

Some researchers have postulated that there may be "worm holes" in space, which could acts as portals between one solar system and another. The idea is that you pop into one worm hole and hey, presto, before you know it, you pop out of another millions of light years away, without having to travel the distance in between.

Of course, this notion is still but a theory. Personally, I believe that UFOs probably have their origins much closer to home. It seems unlikely that they originate on another planet in our own solar system, as there are no signs of alien civilisations on Mars, Venus or the other worlds in our vicinity.

Another problem is that life as we know it would probably find it difficult to survive in the hostile conditions those planets present. Is it possible, though, that UFOs could have their origin right here on planet earth? This may not be as strange an idea as one might imagine. For years there have been rumours that there are subterranean worlds hidden under the north and south poles that could house civilisations whose existence we are unaware of.

If such civilisations do indeed exist, they could, theoretically speaking, be in possession of advanced technologies that enable them to build aircraft far beyond our own understanding, and using propulsion systems we can only dream of. Another reason for thinking that the "aliens" may be related to us is the biological similarities between UFO occupants and human beings.

Put aside their strange skin colour, large eyes and antennae, aliens are normally described as having a head, torso, two legs, two arms and facial features pretty much the same as our own. If aliens are similar to us, if not identical, then we can probably assume that they are related to us in the same way that horses and pigs, although not identical, are both mammals and occupy places reasonably close to each other on the evolutionary tree.

If you're ever lucky enough to see the occupant of a UFO, it's a fascinating thought that you may not be staring at an alien from outer space, but a long-lost cousin. Why haven't our ethereal visitors contacted us formally and announced their existence officially to the world?

Well, look at it this way; if you had the chance of making friends with a bunch of people who behave as badly as we humans do, wouldn't you think twice about it?

North East UK UFO encounters – The Journal (Jan 10 2008)

THE UK 's X Files are about to be unleashed.

The Ministry of Defence is due to release 24 files, each containing between 200 and 300 reports of sightings, along with internal MoD briefings and correspondence. A date for the release has not yet been set, but it is thought to be only a matter of weeks. But today The Journal can reveal a host of mysterious sightings, having obtained figures under the Freedom of Information Act.

In 2006 there were seven reported sightings of UFOs in the North-East and North Yorkshire .

And between 1998 and 2006 there were 84 such reports, many of which remain unexplained. An MoD spokesman revealed they would only investigate sightings fully if it was believed they posed a threat to national security.

No data has yet been released for sightings in 2007.

While the North-East is far from the busiest region for UFO spotting, North Yorkshire has become the UFO spotting capital of the country. In 2005 alone there were 23 reports of strange things in the sky.

A spokesman for the MoD said: “The MoD examines reports solely to establish whether UK airspace may have been compromised by hostile or unauthorised military activity.

“If required, sighting reports are examined with the assistance of the Department's air defence experts. Unless there is evidence of a potential threat, there is no attempt to identify the nature of each sighting reported.”

However there are groups which do try to identify and explain UFO sightings.

Heather Stone, national co-ordinator for the British UFO Research Organisation (BUFORA), lives in Wideopen, close to Newcastle . She said there were many reported sightings every year but most have a rational explanation. She said: “I think between 95% and 98% of all reports have an easy explanation. It is usually military aircraft or something like that:

“Recently Chinese lanterns being released have created havoc for us as they can easily look like a UFO. And of course meteorites are always mistaken for something more mysterious. We also get a few hoaxes and people who just want some attention. But there are some sightings which cannot be explained. I had one story from a female taxi driver in Cumbria . It was New Year's Eve and she had just dropped someone off at Brampton . She got back into her taxi and started to drive off. She was talking to her sister on the radio when suddenly all the lights went out and the car stopped. “She got out of the car and saw a blue sphere hovering behind the vehicle. It then moved over the car before shooting off. “The whole thing lasted just a couple of minutes. This woman then got back into her car and began talking to her sister again who said she had been away for over half an hour. Both are very ordinary credible people. While I'm not sure I believe we are being visited by things from other planets I do believe many of the stories. Some things just cannot be explained. Suddenly all the lights went out and the car stopped'

Police Chief Witness To UFO Crash (Jan 2008)

I saw a strange story yesterday (Jan 08 th 2008) and I've been waiting to see if there would be any kind of follow-up printed anywhere. The story of an, “Alleged” crashed UFO appeared in the Politics(?) section of the Interfax website, a news website who since the early 90's has been the main provider of news from Russia and other countries from the former Soviet Union. Often quoted by many other News organisations as well as breaking most of the major Russian news reports.

Anyway, the article that caught my attention had the headline, “UFO allegedly splashed down in Kazakhstan” and was as follows.

----------------------------------

UFO allegedly splashed down in Kazakhstan

Jan 8 2008 1:47PM

PAVLODAR . Jan 8 (Interfax) - An unidentified flying object might have fallen in the Belaya river in the May district in the Pavlodar region, northern Kazakhstan , a source with the regional emergency situations department told Interfax referring to an eye-witness.

The chief of a local police department saw a shining flying object falling in the river in the early hours of January 5, the source said, adding that the policeman "reported about it to higher authorities."

According to the emergency situations department, divers examined a 15-meter air hole and officers of the local sanitary and epidemic office took water samples.

"Divers plunged four times, but no objects were found. Water samples are normal," the department said.

Meanwhile, Lyubov Rybalko, an ufologist and the head of the Asur public organization, told Interfax that an UFO cannot fall. They "can either land or pass through the Earth like through air." It is possible that an UFO splashed down in the Belaya river, the ufologist said..

----------------------------------

Pavlodar, Kazakhstan
Pavlodar, Kazakhstan

It appears that no other News channel has touched this, whether that be due to the lack of information, lack of communication or because of the apparent scarcity of corroborative evidence remains to be seen, but besides the original report the only places I've seen it posted or even mentioned so far is exclusively within the online UFO community.

I feel that regardless of how spurious the account seems you have to appreciate that if the report is accurate then a chief of the local Police Force was the witness and if this is the case then the testimony must carry a little more weight than if it was your average citizen. And surely the account must carry enough weight to merit further coverage. Especially if the, “Emergency situations department” felt the witness account apparently carried enough weight to send in divers and the, “Sanitary and epidemic office” felt it appropriate to collect water samples for testing.

Only time will tell I suppose but if the details and the witness account are accurate then it may be a story that's worth keeping an eye on.....

Out Of The Blue UFO Documentary delivered to Danish Parliament

Copenhagen , Denmark , January 09, 2008

With the recent NPC & Larry King shows still fresh in peoples minds, Exopolitics Denmark is striking while the iron is still hot and have just delivered a copy of, “Out Of The Blue – The Definitive Investigation Of The UFO Phenomenon” to every member of the Danish Parliament!!

Of course it’s the 5 Year Anniversary edition so the DVD contains updated material, including more military witnesses being interviewed regarding the famous Bentwaters case as well as Former Governor Fife Symington talking about his sighting and experience with the infamous Phoenix lights back in 1997. The, "Out of the Blue” documentary is now available in 16:9 format, Exopolitics Denmark has talked to producer James Fox and he's said to be pleased with the delivery.

outofthebluethemovie.com

James Fox and journalist Leslie Kean (of The Coalition For Freedom Of Information) made the headlines back on November 12th of last year (2007) former Arizona Governor Fife Symington moderated a distinguished panel of former high-ranking government, aviation and military officials from seven countries who discussed encounters with UFOs and official investigations.

Exopolitics Denmark 's mission is to lobby the Danish government to pressure other countries to declassify documents and to conduct high-level hearings about classified energy and propulsion systems and a possible extraterrestrial presence. The government employees who are prepared to testify should be given immunity from their security oaths.

(The Following Is From The Exopolitics Denmark Website)

Truth Amnesty Now!!

Why?

  • The release of advanced clean energy technologies would revolutionise the world's energy sector. It would eg. combat global warming by eliminating the need for fossil fuels.
  • The release of advanced propulsion technology would revolutionise the world's transport sector, especially the CO2 generating aviation industry.
  • The release of technologies would boost environmental development and economic growth in thrid world countries drastically. It would have the potential to create major shifts the world's geopolitical power structure. The latter - along with massive unpredictability - are considered to be some of the main reasons for the suspected classification.

  • Classifying information about an extraterrestrial presence would be a great crime against humanity and our democratic principles.

  • The existence of unacknowledged, rouge, and highly compartmentalised energy and propulsion research programmes - with no high-level government oversight - would be a great crime against humanity and our democratic principles.

Exopolitics Denmark issued a challenge at the bottom of the announcement on their site:

“Will any Danish politician dare to take on the really tough stuff?”

By distributing the UFO documentary Exoplitics Denmark is pre-empting their planned mission of lobbying the Danish government to declassify documents and conduct high-level hearings about classified energy, propulsion systems and also of a possible extraterrestrial presence.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out over the next few months, and may well be an indicator of sorts as to whether similar pressure could be applied to other governments to release their UFO documents, publicly acknowledge the long misunderstood phenomenon and perhaps claim the UFO subject back from the media and inject it with some much needed credibility.

Jeers & Loathing On The Campaign Trail

Poor Dennis Kucinich, it seems everyone is determined to turn the thorn in his side into the nail in his coffin. The Wall Street Journal have just ran a story on (January 2, 2008) Kucinich’s UFO encounter and more importantly featuring what appears to be two corroborating witnesses.

Strangely it’s provocatively sub-headed as follows, “Candidate's Pals Recall Three Throbbing UFOs; Outed by Shirley MacLaine”. It’s by Michael. M. Phillips. (It’s also worth noting that it’s only a matter of weeks since the Murdoch/News Corp. takeover).

To be fair, the Wall Street Journal supports Kucinich’s claim, but I don’t doubt Kucinich wants to forget this incident completely, and still refuses to elaborate or comment on it. The article mentions another two witnesses who have since gone, “On record” as also witnessing the event with Kucinich. The witnesses were a Mr. Costanzo (who served as deputy campaign director and security chief for the 2004 presidential run) and his former girlfriend who chose not to be named. Mr. Costanzo said:

“At no time did I feel afraid, even though I felt very small….I sensed that I was in the presence of a greater technology and intelligence….There was a feeling of wanting to communicate something, but I didn't know what”.

Regardless of this new corroborative testimony I hope Shirley’s giving him a (well deserved) cut of her profits of the expertly timed, "Sage-ing While Age-ing.".

The Sun Newspaper - UK UFO (Red) Herring Gull (Dec 29 th 2007)

“Oooh arrrr not alone anymore”

The SUN Newspaper recently ran a UFO story with the inspired(?) headline, “Oooh arrrr not alone anymore.” The story was as follows:

THIS stunning photo of a UFO over Cornwall was last night hailed by experts as one of the best ever taken in Britain . KELVIN took his picture at 3.31pm on December 29, with a Nikon D80 Digital SLR on automatic.

The classic flying saucer shape is seen above two ships. And UFO watchers believe it could be proof we are NOT alone. Kelvin Barbery snapped the mystery object from a coastal path between Swanpool and Maenporth, near Falmouth . In a weird twist, Kelvin, 55, did not even see the UFO at the time.

He thought he was just taking a sea view — but when he loaded the digital camera card on to his computer, the round metallic “craft” was in the centre of the shot, about two miles away.

Kelvin, a facilities manager for schools, said: “There were a couple of tankers out in the bay and I thought that it made a nice shot.

“There was nothing in view and certainly no fault on the camera. When I got home I couldn't believe what I had. I thought, ‘Wow, where did that come from?' I'm not the sort to believe in UFOs — now I'm not so sure.”

Nick Pope, one of Britain 's foremost UFO experts, said the photo was one of the best he had seen, Nick, formerly the official Ministry of Defence UFO analyst, said: “If I was still there I'd be looking at this very closely. The object looks structured, symmetrical and metallic. This man has caught something very interesting indeed."

Michael Soper, of the Contact International UFO group, agreed: “This does appear genuine. Digital photos can be doctored but everything about it appears consistent.”

To be honest, I find its strange that this image is being touted as, “One of the best” as even if you squint and tilt your head slightly it appears to show a gull, and regarding, “The object looks structured, symmetrical and metallic” perhaps this was a quick glance that the former MOD, “Analyst” Nick Pope cast over the image as I personally fail to see any of the features described.

Eye of the beholder?

It seems that there really is no happy medium with the tabloids, the UFO subject is either ridiculed and mocked, or blatantly dubious images are touted as absolute proof, is it any wonder that the uninformed public weigh and measure the subject and more often than not find it wanting?

Thanks to UK UFO investigator/researcher Jenny Randles for the lead and I believe Jenny also sums up the widely perceived problems regarding the MoD, also alluding to the reason why the media jump on sightings such as this (with seemingly prosaic explanations) and perhaps more importantly why prominent UFOlogists appear to pander to their whimsical and fleeting interest (when not misquoted).

"My bet is they (the MoD) will turn out to have been just as hopeless as the rest of us as at this tricky business. Indeed I suspect that you need many years of battle hardened study of the data before you see the basic issues involved and can talk yourself out of the romanticism that surrounds the evidence. Especially amidst the siren calls of the media who mostly only want to hear you say exciting stuff not find explanations.

Nobody working with the MoD had this depth of continuity to get to the point where they saw the subject in all of its complexity (and at heart, its simplicity).”
