Fox News recently aired another video report (13th February 2008) concerning the ongoing Stephenville , Texas UFO flap which commenced January 2008.

On the 5th January, YouTube user, “Brintonsdad” (BD) uploaded a video clip of a squad of Marines on patrol in Iraq who capture on video something that at the present time are unable to explain.
The information that was posted to accompany the video was as follows:
“On the night of January 2nd 2008 a group of Marines on patrol in Iraq have a close encounter of the first kind with...?”

BD is genuinely as intrigued by the footage as everyone else seems to be and says that personally he's leaning towards some sort of meteorological phenomenon although at the moment he has no idea what that may be!! BD has even contacted a meteorologist and the general consensus seems to be that they are a phenomenon know as, “Light Pillars”.

BD says that the footage was posted to him over the internet by his Nephew who is a squad leader currently serving in Iraq and details are sketchy as he was (and still is) on active assignment. BD thinks that the footage is most likely captured in the Eastern part of the country.
A light pillar is a visual phenomenon created by the reflection of light from ice crystals, if the light is from the sun then it's commonly known as a sun/solar pillar. This phenomenon is similar to, “Sundogs” which reveal that the clouds are hosting horizontal plate crystals, the plates drift slowly downwards like a falling leaf with their large faces almost exactly horizontal, causing the visual effect. In light pillars those crystals with plate or column shapes provide an excellent surface from which the light may reflect toward the viewer's eyes. They can also occur at night but under these circumstances they require a bright source of light which can sometimes be provided by powerful terrestrial sources (such as street/security lamps) or more commonly by the moon.

The light pillar theory is certainly a possibility and one I feel shouldn't be ruled out, especially as January is noted as being one of the coldest months in Iraq with the temperature often dropping below freezing which would certainly facilitate the forming of the ice crystals in the clouds, allowing for the formation of light pillars, and of course the lights certainly are in the clouds.
A lot of the YouTube user comments mention spotlights, I feel that spotlights can be safely ruled out for many reasons, the main two being I'm sure the Marines would be aware of them if it were the case and of course why on earth would there be spotlights in Iraq at all?

The glow you can see at the bottom of the screen (in the original video) is a small town and is apparently unrelated to the light sources in the sky (unless of course it's the source of the light which is hitting the ice crystals in the sky and causing the effect) unfortunately due to the night vision it can't be determined if the light sources are the same colour as if they were then that would obviously lean towards the, "Light pillar" theory being correct.

EDIT TO ADD - Not long after posting this I received a comment by an Italian Blogger called, “RL”. (See comments at bottom of page). RL provided a link to quite an extensive website (CAELESTIA – Latin, "Affairs of the heavens”) documenting many unidentified aerial phenomena and attempts to explain them in more prosaic terms. While undoubtedly there will be some UFOs/UAPs that will still resist any kind of explanation I personally feel that we MUST consider all known earthly possibilities before any kind of opinion can be formed.
While I hasten to add that of course, “Light pillars” present a possible explanation rather than a definite one I'd like to thank RL for the link and I include it here as I found it very informative. “The present study is a first attempt to bring together sightings from different parts of the world. In the process of unearthing this material, it was found that the ignorance surrounding the phenomenon persists to this day. Because of this, reports of light pillars have sparked unwarranted speculation, not only from ufologists and conspirationalists (who are inclined to attribute the sightings to extraterrestrial spaceships or secret military tests), but also among astronomers and meteorologists (who sometimes mistake them for auroral pillars, a specific type of aurora that shows as vertical streaks of light). A recently captured UFO video has appeared on YouTube, courtesy of Teletica Channel 7 of Costa Rica and analysis by Ana Luisa Cid.
(Translated Text) In a town near San Jose , capital of Costa Rica , Mr. Marvin Badilla achieved a very interesting video, a possible ovni Disk seems that turning on the spot and make changes in a matter of seconds.
The witness, construction worker, describes the size of the object was a little higher than a tractor tire. The sighting occurred last Tuesday, November 20 at 3:49 evening, when he was sanding wood outdoors. He added that he was accompanied by a colleague from work, Mr. William Rivera, who warned of what he was watching. But he did not hear his appeal because the noise drill wearing at that time was prevented from doing so.
I received the video for analysis of the investigator Richard Sandi and authorization to disseminate I was given by the reporter Luis Carlos Monge and the co-director of Telenoticias, Pilar Cisneros, whom I thank for their kindness and confidence in my work. Luis Carlos Monge prepared the report of this case for Telenoticias, which was transmitted in three editions stellar. This story has been widely accepted, the public made numerous telephone calls to recount similar experiences.

Presents a cut when 3:19, when applied zoom, which can be normal in some models of mobile phones when using the approach. This information should be verified with a phone identical to the witness.
The object appears to rotate reflecting sunlight.
Remains Static and then changes its position leaning to the left and right in fraction of seconds, showing other aspects such as: Top View, side and bottom, respectively.

During the movements above the recording is continuous, ie without cuts, although a few moments the likely ovni outside box on the screen, perhaps because the movement pulse.
In reviewing sweeps takes perceive that the object also sweeps, which might indicate that he was actually in the environment.

PERSONAL OPINION (Analysis of the video by Ana Luisa Cid-YouTube)
After reviewing the video several times, in slow motion and frame by frame, I think that there is a genuine and material while it is true that at present can be created "UFO" in the computer, it is also true that many people around the world have reported and documented this type of device.
He strikes me as an honest man and I think likely to have experienced a sighting.
External my opinion as a preliminary and need to know that the investigations into the ufólogos of Costa Rica . They surely would have a more qualified under that may interview witnesses and assist the place to do field work.
I recommend that we are vigilant in following up this case through news reports and Teletica Oscar Sierra.

Alleged UFO Crash 1974: Andean mountains of Peru - Humanoid Alien (YouTube)
A YouTube user named, “stevenng2020” recently uploaded 4 short videos (Oct 2007) that purports to show a deceased alien.
Comment with video says, “In January of 1974 an unidentified flying object (UFO) fell in the Andean mountains of Peru. The Military authorities denied what had happened, but some people were there before them and took something very valuable.....a HUMANOID (Alien). What you gonna see here is the dead Alien body that was keep over 33 years.”
Personally, I don’t think the user did himself any favours by teasing the footage out into four parts and duplicating information at the start of each clip, anyway here’s all four clips back-to-back.
In 1990 mid-summer I was repairing damaged fence line on my North forty in Broken Arrow OK. I usually camp at the site when I have large repairs to do. At about 2:00am my horses started running back and forth and the cattle began caterwauling. I thought coyotes had came for a calf.
Then the animals became dead silent; they didn't even move. It became completely silent, I couldn't hear anything. Then all of a sudden it became almost completely lit up like it was 9:00am, to the north. It looked like the sun was coming up.
I ran back to the camp and grabbed my camcorder and started filming. Please keep in mind that it was around 2:00am and the sun was many hours from rising. I panned the camera around and the look on my animals was strange. They look as if in a trance-- no reaction at all, almost as if they were in a state of shock. The fireball went higher and higher until out of sight. After it was gone, the animals went on as if nothing happened. I could not even guess how far away it was, it looked as if the sun decided to rise at 2:00am. From the time I first saw the light till it vanished was about 5 to 8 minutes.
I have had this video for some time now, but didn't want to bring any unwanted attention to myself. I have shortened up the video clip because of size but the look on the animal's faces gives me a chill to this day.
This is a strange one!! In recent footage from the BBC News (20 th September, 2007) and whilst reporting on an Israeli military exercise near the Syrian border there is some strange footage that accompanies the report that appears to show a couple of objects that are suspect to say the least!!
My first reaction was that it was a scratch or some debris on the hood of the cockpit, but the object certainly appears to pass behind another jet that comes into the field of view.
