Kecksburg - Crashed Saucer Update

NASA to search for related 1965 UFO files
Government agency fought the move in federal court

NASA has agreed to search its archives once again for documents on a 1965 UFO incident in Pennsylvania, a step the space agency fought in federal court.

The government has refused to open its files about what, if anything, moved across the sky and crashed in the woods near Kecksburg, Pa., 40 miles southeast of Pittsburgh. The Air Force’s explanation: "A meteor or meteors!!"

Eyewitnesses said that a flatbed truck drove away a large object shaped like an acorn and about the size of a Volkswagen bus. Traffic was tied up in the area as curiosity seekers drove to the area, only to be kept away from the crash site by soldiers.

"They could not find anything," one Air Force memo stated after a late-night search on Dec. 9, 1965. Several NASA employees also were reported to have been at the scene.

Eyewitnesses said a flatbed truck drove away a large object shaped like an acorn and about the size of a Volkswagon bus. A mock-up based on the descriptions of local residents sits behind the Kecksburg Volunteer Fire Department.

Watch UFO Documentary - The Shag Harbour Incident

The Kecksburg UFO Incident

On the night of October 4, 1967, at about 11:20 p.m. Atlantic Daylight Time, it was reported that something (later referred to as a UFO) had crashed into the waters near Shag Harbour, on Nova Scotia's South Shore. At least eleven people saw a low-flying lit object head down towards the harbour. Multiple witnesses reported hearing a whistling sound "like a bomb", then a "whoosh", and finally a loud bang. Some reported a flash of light as the object entered the water. Thinking that an airliner or smaller aircraft had crashed into the Sound next to Shag Harbour , some witnesses reported the event to the local Royal Canadian Mounted Police RCMP detachment.

The unknown object was referred to as a "UFO" in official Canadian government documents. A Canadian Naval recovery effort immediately followed, perhaps aided in part by the U.S. military. The event is sometimes compared to the Roswell UFO incident and Kecksburg UFO incident, two other events alleged to be military crash-recoveries of UFOs.
